MiniMed 780G New Feature Overview
Bluetooth Connectivity
Compared it’s predecessor, the MiniMed 670G, the new MiniMed 780G now has built in Bluetooth connectivity. The Bluetooth connectivity means patients and their clinicians can see real-time glucose data and trends on compatible iOS and Android smartphones via the CareLink Connect App.
Automated Bolus Correction Doses
The new device also now includes automated bolus correction doses in addition to basal insulin delivery. According to Medtronic’s website, what this means is that it will do the following:
- Anticipate Insulin needs – Using CGM data, it will continuously adjust insulin delivery, automatically correct highs without any input from the user
- Self Adjusts Insulin Delivery – Analyzes CGM data every 5 minutes, and makes adjustments to insulin delivery. Uses 288 data inputs per day for decision making according to Medtronic
- Automatic High Blood Sugar Correction – Automatically correct blood sugar levels 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Medtronic hopes to increase the time in range for users to above 70% in range (3.9-10 mmmol/L (70-180 mg/dL) and around 5% of the time in low blood sugar levels.
